De-Stress Yourself

Ok, so I know my fabulous blog partner is kicking my butt in terms of quantity of material posted here, but in my defense, I have always been more of a quality girl.

OF COURSE I’m joking (Love you Christina!). The truth of the matter is that with work, studying for the C.P.A. Exam, and trying to stay active, I’ve got a lot on my plate, and I just haven’t learned how to juggle multiple tasks as efficiently as my wonderful cousin :).

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has to deal with stressful and time consuming tasks, so I’d like to share with you all one of my main stress reliving techniques: listening to music!

Last time I wrote about music, the focus was on songs that get you amped for a great workout (which you can read here if you missed it). This time, I want to share some of my personal favorites that I listen to when I want to take a moment to myself and recharge my batteries. And don’t worry! I am not about to throw two hours of spa music at you.

Each of these songs holds a special place in my heart, and while they may or may not be as helpful to you, I urge you to use these examples as a stepping off point to find your own songs that help you feel re-centered, relaxed and ready to take on your next challenge!

Now let’s get to the songs, in no particular order:

Miranda Lambert — The House That Built Me

I know most people do not have good things to say about today’s country music, or the direction it is going, but this is and always will be a fantastic song.

Kenny Chesney Ft Grace Potter — You and Tequila

The last country one I’ll post!

Craig Armstrong — Balcony Scene

I know it’s basically a riff off of Des’ree’s Kissing You, but it is so beautiful to listen to the instrumental.

Here is another instrumental.  The song is an extended version of the theme from the Liam Neeson movie The Grey

John Mayer — Slow Dancing in a Burning Room

I used to never listen to Mayer, but I was really missing out. This song is fantastic.

Parachute — American Secrets

Above is the full version of the song, as well as “Part 2,” which is the part I usually skip to.

Mansions on the Moon — She Makes Me Feel

Not the type of music I typically listen to, but one of my go-to songs.

Grace Potter — Stars

Grace is a star, and she should get a lot more recognition.

Well I think that is a good start! Happy listening 🙂
